Stupid F##king Bird

University of Minnesota Duluth

2022

Stupid F##king Bird is a show about human connection (and disconnection). The lighting reflects the emotional tone of the characters as their lives become worse and worse. The first act will be bright, warm, and open as the characters are relatively happy. The second act is heavy, tense, and stark, reflecting the emotional tension between the characters. When everyone is asleep the lights will be "off" to create an appropriate atmosphere for an affair that can then be interrupted by Emma's presence. The last act returns to the outdoors, but will be cold and dreary like a rainy day, reflecting the ways the characters are barely holding on. The two scenes at the end of acts 1 and 2 where the characters express their wants are special cases and thus feel very different from the rest of the show.

Stupid F##king Bird was recognized as a Distinguished Performance and Production Ensemble at the KCACTF Region 5 Festival
