Stage Blood is a hilarious romp through the behind the scenes drama of a troupe of Shakespearean actors. There's murder, secret identities, a ghost, another murder, and another ghost.
I wanted this show to feel dynamic as we whirlwind through the plot, able to keep up with the wide range of emotions of this play. There are parts that are extremely funny, but also parts that are extremely serious (There is a murder after all). Inspired by 80s comedy movies and film noir, I played heavily with color and angle to be able to support the range of emotions this show requires. The beginning was bright and colorful to match the player's antics, and the scenes during the production of Hamlet were just as moody and dramatic as it's leading man. During act 2, the lighting became more shadowy as murder, ghosts, and mystery abound before the whole plot is revealed and the cast celebrates their incredible performance.
